Ultimate Serengeti Photo Safari 2018

Safari OverviewPhoto SafarisPrivate ToursPhoto HidesBook a Safari with Shem

Introduction

The Serengeti is a very large and vast ecosystem. Most people, who visit it, touch only a small corner of this great reserve. C4 Photo Safaris first touched the plains of the Serengeti in 2002 and since then we have explored all of its corners. Over the years we have learnt the ebb and flow of the migration and also the nooks and crannies where remarkable sightings are found and secret experiences had. From this exploration, we have built up what we consider the Ultimate Serengeti Safari.

If you thought a Serengeti safari was your typical open plains visit, then think again. This itinerary starts in the deep south of the Serengeti where there is no migration, but rather cheetah sightings second to none in Africa. This special location gives us access to open plains with almost zero other vehicles around and unprecedented cheetah activity. You can also expect lions on top of the typical rock koppies that are so typical of the Serengeti.

Then we fly north and east to Lake Natron where we have chartered our own helicopter for our group to fly over Lake Natron and the active volcano of Ol Doinyo Lengai. This is one of the most scenic parts of Africa and without a doubt the most photogenic flights you can do. Natron is a wonderland of photographic material. With the volcano and Serengeti plains as a backdrop, you will capture sensational images of this quite unique landscape. In addition to the Flying, you will have the opportunity to visit and photograph some of the most remote and authentic Maasai tribes in Tanzania. You will quickly notice that these people hardly ever see tourists; such are their relaxed manner and acceptance of visitors.

The north-western Serengeti is where we end our safari when we fly to our beautiful, exclusive camp in the Kogatende area. We will spend four nights here at the best time for the wildebeest migration as it moves up into the Lamai Wedge. Here we can expect wildlife activity of the grandest order, with large numbers of wildebeest and the associated predators. Crossings of the Mara River are common and we also hope to see this.

As a tribute to the ultimate manner in which to visit the entire Serengeti, this safari is a testament to what this amazing destination has to offer the visitor, and the photographer.  This safari experience will be personally guided by the founders of C4 Photo Safaris, Shem Compion and Andre Cloete. It was Shem and Andre who together, both set foot on the Serengeti plains in 2002 and now they will share their experiences of the last 15 years visiting the Serengeti with you.

Expect silence and solitude; expect action photography, exhilarating flights over the Rift Valley lake of Natron, the migration in its full splendour and all the predators on show. This safari will mesmerise you from start to finish. It is the ultimate way to photograph the Serengeti.

Sanctuary Kusini offers a Serengeti safari like no other. This is the only permanent camp in this unspoilt and remote part of the Serengeti and every year wildebeest congregate on the camp’s “doorstep”. Perfectly set in the remote southern part of the Serengeti, Sanctuary Kusini’s location was specially selected after much research by our guides and the local experts. It overlooks the plains where game and predators are a common sight all year round.  Predators are never far off as they are always nearby for an opportunistic meal. Sightings of cheetah, lion and black backed jackal are all common relatively common and there is a strong possibility of seeing a hunt or even a kill.

Akiba Kibwe Tented Camp

Taken from the designs of old, we have modified and improved on the original style of Camps creating what we believe to be the finest mobile camp available. All tents are en-suite with Queen or twin bedded sleeping arrangements, silver service dining and of course Wildlife Explorer’s renowned well-balanced menus served al Fresco under the African stars or in the candlelit-dining tent. Mobile Tented Camps are where we started and still form the backbone of our operation, regarded by many as being the true essence of safari.
